Fully continuous multi-stage ultrafiltration unit with counter-current diafiltration for the clarification of fruit juices, fruit wines and aqueous plant extracts.
• Maximum product yield and excellent juice quality
• Tubular membranes allow high solid concentrations • Modular design, high performance on small footprint • Reliable, fully automated system • Integrated CIP system and tank management • Fast and gentle filtration process with maximum quality preservation • Continuous diafiltration with low water consumption Application
The Flavy ContiStar feed-and-bleed ultrafiltration system has been devel-oped for the clarification and extraction of fruit juices and wines, plant extracts and fermenter broths. It is especially useful if the process shall be fast and under absence or air in order to avoid quality deteriorations.
Due to its large diameter tubular membranes and the counter current diafil-tration the Flavy ContiStar process is very efficient. The unit can handle fluids with medium to high suspended solids concentrations. The Flavy ContiStar is especially well suited for the filtration of coloured juices (colour preservation) and NFC juices (aroma protection). Each unit is customized for its specific clarification and/or extraction task. The process is very flexible. The number of filtration and diafiltration stages can be selected according to required flow rates and degree of purification. Design and functionality
The product is fed to the first filtration stage where it circulates within the membranes and pipe work. The liquid partially penetrates the membranes and leaves the first stage as clear permeate. Part of the retentate is feeding the second stage where it is further concentrated. In the last filtration stage the suspended solids reach the maximum concentration.
The bleed flow from this stage could enter additional stages, where the solids are not concentrated further but “washed” or extracted in counter current mode: the extraction liquid (e.g. water) is fed to the last stage. The permeate from the last stage (= diluted filtrate) is fed to the second last stage for pre-washing and so on. The final residue continuously bleeding out of the system is a concen-trated sludge which is low in soluble solids (juice content). |
